Visualizing Energy Usage Across Philadelphia

Philadelphia MOS Energy Data Visualization ToolLast week, Philadelphia’s Mayor’s Office of Sustainability (MOS) announced the release of its Energy Benchmarking Data Visualization Tool, developed in conjunction with local rock-star geospatial analysis firm, Azavea. We at iSpring are particularly excited about this tool because it makes energy data easy to understand, and we love it when organizations use visuals effectively to communicate data.

The new tool has two main components: an interactive map that allows you to peruse properties throughout the city and compare their energy usage to one another, and a charting and graphing function that allows you to see benchmarking data through various filters, such building type and size. (If you’re the kind of person who would rather read a big report than look at pretty data visualizations, they have that, too, and you can find it here.)

Well done, MOS and Azavea!  Who knew looking at energy data could be so fun?
